Shame on you JT!
How many turned up to help with the clear-up and what did you personally make of the condition of the pitch?

Well there were in total about 10-12 who turned up in three hours three of us dug the goal area at the Meadow End out. As for the condition of the pitch as the day went on and the snow started to melt then areas of the pitch began to flood. I would put Tuesdays game as 50/50 at the moment. Parts of the meadow end penalty box are under 10 - 20mm of water.

Its a shame that its off but not unexpected I guess. Well done to the 12 or so who tried valiantly to get the game on.
Maybe JT wasn't grateful as your efforts were putting his unbeaten start to 2010 under threat!

Well in all honesty it became clear as soon as we got there that Saturdays game wasnt going to be on. The emphasis was on trying to get as much snow off the pitch to illeviate flooding. Unfortunately the majority of the pitch is still under snow. The FGR game is on and maybe HUFC should have started yesterday.

When to take the snow off is a difficult one to call. Snow can actually protect the suface if its very cold and over the last few weeks with the weather comming from the east it was best to leave it on. The snow should have been taken off when the weather changed and the milder air come from the west. Take it off too late and the melting snow creates a waterlogged pitch.
In retrospect I think the snow should have been removed a few days ago when it was clear the weather was reverting back nomal winter conditions. Hindsight though is wonderfull thing.

Not a lot of snow left at all now - just the remnants of a few snowmen
